PS problems

SF (6.0.1-xx) on Mac OS9.2.2 with Photoshop 7.x (either 7.0 and 7.0.1.) cannot be launched, neither directly (SF_App) nor through PS.
The ways we succededay is under OSX from within PS (with the same plugins, that are refused under OS) and with a former version of SF (5.5), but this version only runs under PS prior to 7.
we have two scanners (Umax PL III and Polaroid SprintScan 45) and their respecitve SF-versions.
1) after installation, the sf_app (1.15) recognizes the plugin(s), but by punching ?import? nothing happens.
2) in PS similar things: ?the plugin cannot be loaded? is the most common message.
we tried many different combinations, changed OS, machine (Mac), Scanner and checked the web for latest releases. who can help ?
