problems with uninstall SF SE 6, reinstall 5.5

I began wih new Epson 2450 bundled with SF SE 5.5, worked fine... reading about "improvements" in SF SE 6, I decided to purchase online download... uninstalled 5.5, insstalled 6, and, even after receiving the serial number replacement, it would not work with my scanner, uninstalled 6, and to be sure, uninstalled ALL Epson 2450 software, did what i thought would be a clean install of that and the bundled 5.5... now it won't work either! Apparently, 6 has grabbed something it won't let go of... HELP! btw, its not my scanner... works fine with epson twain...

i know it is preferred that problems be handled on the problem page... i have tried to comply, and I keep getting error message that all required fields must be completed... i have done so and also the not required fields and still get the error message , so in desperatiion i hope to contact someone or get some help through this forum

Since my previous post I received a response from Martin Leschke, of Lasersoft Imaging Suppor, to an email I sent to info@lasersoft.com (I did not see a "support" address on the web site). We've been corresponding and Martin has been very supportive, but I still was unsuccessful after several uninstalls and reinstalls of everything on my computer to do with photo work or scanning , until last night, when a lightbulb went off in my head, and i remembered that the original (and successful) install of 5.5 had been done followin the Epson instruction to install software BEFORE connecting the scanner... so I did the obvious and disconnected the scanner, reinstalled everything, plugged in the scanner, and shazam! 5.5 is working again... duhhh... hope my "magic" will help someoe else one day... i'll work with 5.5 for awhile before I try 6 again, (a bit leary) but I wonder if this whole saga could have been avoided by disconecting the scanner before i installed 6, and if so, maybe that should be included in the download/install instructions.
