Running Windows 2000. Was running Photoshop 6.01 with Silverfast 5.2.1r04 for Nikon coolscan 4000 just fine. Just upgraded to Photoshop 7.01.
Problem in Photoshop 7.01 do "File-Import" do not see Silverfast at all. Tried to reinstall the software getting following error msg:
Error occured durint move data process:-115
Also copied the Silverfast directory from Photoshop 6 to Photoshop 7 (Import-Export) direct had no effect.
Can still run Photoshop 6.01 & Silverfast without any problems but unable to get it to appear in the File Import in Photoshop 7.01.
Any Ideas how to resolve this?

Problems with SilverFast when upgrading PS 6.0.1 tp PS 7
Did you ever get a resolution to this issue? I am having sililiar problems. I'm running WIN XP/PS 7.0.1/SF 6.0.1 r13/Nikon CS IV. When I downloaded SF 6.0.1 r19 last week and installed it, now SF does not show it in the IPS mport box. I did not get any error message. I've also got Nikon Scan 3.1 that I've used with PS 6, now with PS 7. It seems to continue to work okay, but the preview scan now seems to run slower in PS 7. I tried installing SF into the PS 7 Import/Export folder, but it still doesn't work.
I reported my problem to TechSpt a couple of days ago but they haven't responded yet.
Have you got any further insight into this issue?
Regards,
Bob

Hi Bob -
Here's what I was finally able to come up with that worked for me:
1. In PS7, Select "Edit - Preferences - Plug Ins & Scratch Disks"
2. "Check" the (Additional Plug-Ins Directory) box
3. Select "Choose"
4. Add the directory path to where your Silverfast s/w is installed in PS6. Mine was:
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop 6.0\Plug-Ins\Import-Export\
5. Select "Ok"
6. Exit PS7 and reenter. At this point I was able to see my Silverfast s/w in the "File-Import" section. It has been working fine without any problems. Did not notice any performance issues with the s/w.
I just heard back today from tech support and their answer is that they don't support Silverfast 5.2x anymore and that I would have to upgrade to Silverfast 6.0. Don't need to because my s/w is working just fine with PS7.
Hope this helps with your problem.

1. Normally when upgrading the PhotoShop version, I would recommend first to uninstall the old PhotoShop version and than to install the new one. Afterwards install SilverFast into the new PhotoShop folder. If you want to keep your SilverFast preference files, you could save them before uninstalling and then copy them into the new folder.
2. You could also install the new PS first, copy the entire SilverFast folder to the new PS and then uninstall the old PS.
3. But if you want to use PS6 and PS7, your solution is just fine.
Eric.

Hello Eric-
Unfortunately when you purchase the PS7 upgrade, the software does not give you the option to uninstall PS6 and actually requires PS6 to be installed on the pc for the PS7 upgrade.
I had originally copied the contents of the Silverfast directory over to the PS7 Import-export directory and restarted PS7. This did nothing to correct my original problem. The only quick solution that I could find was the one mentioned in my above response.
Copying the directory over may work fine if you are installing PS7 from scratch but doesn't work when installing the upgrade version of PS7.
