Prescan view turns blue on second scan

Postby Kirk » Thu Feb 06, 2003 10:52 pm

Greetings all,

I just upgraded to Silverfast ai 6 for my Umax Powerlook III, and I have a problem with how the preview is displayed in Silverfast. When I first launch Silverfast, it displays a prescan image that looks normal. Then if I do another prescan, the image is now very blue with high contrast, and appears dark. From that second scan on, all other prescans have this distorted appearance. If I do an actual scan, the image appears normal when it arrives in PhotoShop, despite the appearance of the prescan image! So the problem is in the way the prescan is displayed in Silverfast. Closing and relaunching Silverfast does not fix the prescan image, it remains dark blue.

The only way I have found to get a second prescan that looks normal is if I reboot the scanner inbetween prescans. Then it will perform another scan that looks normal. But unless I reboot the scanner again, it will again turn blue on the very next scan.

The problem doesn't appear to be the scanner, as it works fine and does not exhibit this problem with the MagicScan software that came with the scanner.

I've tried the PhotoShop plug-in, the TWAIN version, and the Standalone software, and they all act this way.

It looks there is a new revision (6.0.1.36a) available today, so I'll try that, but this evening, but if anyone has any ideas on how to solve this, please post them.

Thanks,

Kirk

System - Win2000 SP2, Athlon 1700+, MSI mobo, Matrox G450 dual head video, Adaptec SCSI, Umax Powerlook III connected by SCSI. Silverfast 6.0.1.28 (26?)

I installed the latest revision this morning - 6.0.1.36a of the Umax Powerlook III. I did not help with my issue. The first prescan looked fine, and then the second prescan was too blue, dark, and contrasty.

I used the web form last weekend to try and get support for this issue, but have not received any reply from that, so I'm hoping someone on the forum has a suggestion.
