Plug-in register for Multiple Users on OS X

Postby KS-ERD » Fri May 23, 2008 9:38 pm

We have a running a lab with Leopard (10.5) on intel computers with epson expression 1680 (Firewire), epson 4870 (USB), Microtek 9800XL (Firewire). We use active directory log-ins to the workstation and each user that logs in is prompted to register the scanner plug-in. Is there a way to have the registration information typed in once and be used for all the users. We are looking for the file to copy to the default user template that holds the serial numbers but have been unsuccesful.

Thank you.

Serializing SilverFast under MAC OS X

Postby LSI_Morales » Wed Jun 04, 2008 4:24 pm

Dear KS-ERD,

To be able to serialize the product for many users, SilverFast has to be activated in every MAC computer using an administrator's account (with root user rights active).

Once you have serialized the program the registration should be written in the system, however, there might be some cases where network administrators give very limited rights to normal users (e.g. to use peripherals or external units), in such cases, SilverFast might in fact have problems to use the registrations in the system and therefore it asks every time for the serialization.

Please enable your normal users to have enough rights as to operate such peripherals as well as serilize SilverFast using an administrator's account.

Thank you for your interest
