Mac OS X 10.2.4 and Plug-In for GraphicCo, SilverFast Ai v.6

Postby broccolato » Thu Mar 27, 2003 4:20 pm

Hello.
I Just Bought a Microtek ScanMaker 9800XL and connected it to my iMac via FireWire.

SilverFast 6 Ai works fine under Mac OS 10.2.4, but only as a standalone application.

I need to access SilverFast from within GraphicConverter, using a Twain plug-in, as I did with previous Usb scanner models, as Canon LiDE 30.

I know I have to put a plug-in file under /Library/Application Support/GraphicConverter/Plug-ins folder, but I can't guess which file is necessary among those that came with SilverFast combo installation.

Any help? Thanks in advance.

Dear Mr. Broccolato.

If you got SilverFast on CD, there is a folder with the TWAIN plugins on it. Please install your favourite language.

If you purchased SilverFast online, you may download SilverFast Twain plugins from our WEB site. Please go to our Microtek download page, select your scanner, select MAC, select Twain and your language.

Best regards.
Eric.

The Drivers provided by Silverfast will not work with the latest Graphicconverter in OS 10.2.6.

Any attempt to place the plug in into the GC Application support folder will yield the error "Plug in not carbonised" on starting GC.

Besides, the html-manual provided by silverfast clearly states, that OS X users will not be able to use silver fast plugin from within other apps except for Photoshop and its derivates !

I have posted similar in the host problems area. This product policy is rediculous. SF needs to get its act together. Can't even use SF from within PhotoscoreProfessional.

Dear Jogi.

I think, you are using the TWAIN plugin. However, TWAIN plugins for SilverFast only work on OS9. Our web page should signal this. I have just checked this on our page for the Epson 3200. It says: "Mac OS-X not supported"

Eric.
