I'm not the first and mostly likely not the last....
Due to some Photoshop crashes I've had recently, I removed Photoshop along with all it's plug-ins like AI6 and re-installed everything. Now that I've reloaded AI6, the IT8 button is no longer there. When I press "I", hit upgrade, insert my old AI5 cd, and enter my IT8 password, it keeps asking me to enter my cd. I've tried going back to earlier versions of AI6
but not back to AI5.
How do I fix this to get my IT8 back?
IT8 button missing after reloading AI6

Dear mdivita -
In the case you delete all you Photoshop folders
and install everything new - also SilverFast, you have to serialize SilverFast again. For this you needs your serialisation number and your SilverFast CD. Afterwards you can enable IT8 - calibration. For this you needs the IT8 number ( password ) and also the SilverFast Feature CD.
More you will find under >> SilverFast online reviews >> Ian Lyons?s tutorials >> Basic steps to IT8 - calibration.

Hi Cristoph,
When I've done upgrades in the past, the first time I enter AI6(or 5), it would come up with a window and ask for a name and password. It's not doing that now. I only get a password window when I hit "I" and procede as if I was serializing for IT8. It's interesting that when I press "credits" it shows my current password number so I thought somehow the setup
procedure got more automated.
So, if the first serial number popup window isn't coming up, how should I
go about entering it?

Dear mdivita -
It is nearly unbelievable what you are descibing.
Normaly if you start SilverFast the first time the registration window will come up and ask you for the password ( serialisation number ) - then afterwards if you hit the I button another window will appear with the button: credits >> update. Here you will see the first password. If you like to enable IT8 you have to type now you IT8 password ( first insert the SilverFast Feature CD ). In The case this will not funktion, please send the Log file.
You will find this file at Photoshop folder>> Plug-Ins >> Import / Export >> SilverFast ( scannername ) folder. There we will get all the information about what is going wrong and will be able to help you better

Hi Cristoph,
I've got everything working now. It looks like there were two issues involved.
When doing a clean install of Photoshop and AI you must delete the Silverfast folder and probably the SF_log file that are located in the Photoshop/Plug-ins/Import-Export directory. This gives a clean starting point and forces the first serialization menu to come up.
Second, use the Features CD. I made the mistake of using my original AI5.1 cd, not the features cd. This brings up the IT8 button and allows for the second serial number window to pop up after hitting 'I' then 'credits'.
Thanks for your help via email.
