Install Failure with v6.2.0r4 Epson 1680Pro Upgrade

Postby prachun » Sat Feb 14, 2004 4:02 am

Today I upgraded SF 6 from version 6.1.0r7 to 6.2.0r4. Now I'm unable to use my Epson 1680 scanner. SF seemed to have installed but when I launch SF from Photoshop CS and try to import, the program (SF6) starts to open but then unceremoniously shuts Photoshop down.

I've uninstalled this newer version and gone back to the 6.1.0r7 but the same thing now happens with that version as well! FRUSTRATING when one has work to do. :(

I notice that this new install procedure does not require one to uninstall the older version as before. Also, it asks if you wish to install Windows XP ASPI drivers -- I did although I don't know whether this is necessary or not. I wish the install procedure would give some guidance as to why one would or wouldn't want to install such devices.

OK OK, after 2 or 3 installs and uninstalls I do have this new version running as a plug-in in Photoshop CS. I actually have no idea what I did to get it running, but it works!

NOW, what's the story on this NEW teenie weenie preview window that I now get in SF AND which is not re-sizeable? I mean it's literally 1/10th the size of the previous window I had in version 6.1.0. There is NO detail to be discerned from a preview window of this size.

RRRGGG GGGrRRR -- That's the sound of my teeth grinding when I get these kind of "upgrades".
