I "ALMOST" give up.......

Postby MARK ANDERSON » Wed Oct 15, 2003 2:48 am

Hi,
OK, I have tried everything I can to install the SF SE I purchased 2 days ago wiyh no such luck..
I own a UMAX 2100XL, I'm on a powermac G4 (original model) I'm running OS 10.2.5. I was using Magiscan in classic and then about a week ago Umax emailed me and said they had a special deal on SF SE for OSX, Cool!!!
Not so cool... I can't get it it to work, I've tried everything, I did the System profiler Scsi thing to locate the scanner, which the system now does, I re-installed Photoshop 7, took out the old scanner software etc,
re-installed SF SE, also the latest update from your site, but nothing works because I am still getting the " there is no scanner found"
box popping up
Please help as I don't know where to go from here

Mark.

Please e-mail the SF-logfile to: info@silverfast.com
Please also let me know which SCSI card you are using, and which SCSI ID is selected on the scanner. Quite a few Umax scanners have a problem with Adaptec SCSI cards in OS-X. I'm surprised that Umax did not mention this when you contacted them.

My mistake.

:D OK, It turns out that there are 2 Import/Export files in the Photoshop 7 folder. I had placed the SF SE plug-in in the wrong one. Once I placed it in the Photoshop ONLY plug-ins folder: BINGO, it asked for my serial # and the fat lady sang, running as smooth as a charm.
Hope this info helps others.....
:P
