How to install updates?

I have just moved from PC to Mac (iMac dual core 2) and reinstalled LS 6.2.1 from my disk. I then downloaded the update for LS 6.4.4r6 which shows up on my desktop as a .sit file. I do not know how to install this update and clicking on it does not work - I get a message that there is "no default application to open this document." Same problem with the updates to the Movies and Documents.

Second, LS does not show up on Adobe Photoshop Elements 4.0 for Mac, though the program checked for Photoshop when it installed.

Dear cgebelein

SIT files are stuffit archives. You need to expand that file with the free (from www.stuffit.com) Stuffit Expander utility. You'll get an installer file. Run it an there you are :)
