I have a PC running Windows XP Pro SP1. I have a new Microtek i900 scanner that was working okay until I just updated both the Microtek & SilverFast software. I updated to to Microtek 7.02 & SilverFast AI 6.4.3r6. I was able to scan before updating the software, and now I get a an error box with "Microtek MSSTI.DLL (USB)" in the Window title bar with an error message in the window box with, "Fail to read image. System Error 31. A device attached to this system is not functioning." I can't do a system restore because I had my restore settings in the "off" position. Any suggestions to get the new scanner up and running would be appreciated. Thanks...
Dave
PC is a Pentium III with 256 MB of RAM, two 60 GB hard drives which are about 99% full on each drive. I'm using an Adapter PCI card with two (2) Fire Wire ports & three (3) USB ports. The Scanner is hooked up to the USB port. I have a seven (7) port USP hub that I have the scanner hooked in to. Like I mentioned above, the scanner seemed to work okay before installing updated software...
Error Reading... can you help?

Dear Dave
while twice 6 GB free might sound fine, actual coherent space might be very muce lower, as files on a hard drive get fragmented over time during use.
It can well be that there's not enough coherent free disk space to work with.
On the other hand, while the above mentioned thing is a problem you want to deal with anyway, this shouldn't necessarily affect reading of the MSSTI.DLL, which is a scanner driver file from Microtek.
You might want to contact Microtek support for further information.
