I have just purchased an Epson 2450, which included SilverFast SE.
At the end of the installation process, when the computer is rebooted, I get the following messages:
First a string of identical lines, as follows:
"Windows could not update the file %1 from %2 %1 %2"
Then a message saying that a file named in C:\Windows\System.ini is damaged.
Then a message saying that C:\Windows\System\Aspienum.vxd is damaged. (Aspienum.vxd is not in System.ini)
I checked, and Aspienum.vxd is a zero-byte file.
I removed, then re-installed SilverFast 3 times, and each time got the same messages. I also removed Aspienum.vxd before re-installing once, with no difference.
Strangely, SilverFast seems to work OK, although I have not yet checked every function.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Don Oliver

This was related to the intention to update your ASPI layer drivers. A routine that SilverFast usually does.
It is NOT necessary for you, as your scanner is NOT a SCSI device.
If you are not sure what is up to your SCSI layer drivers now, simply download the updater for ASPI drivers off our download site and run aspiinit.exe on your Windows.
