Demo AI can't see my Epson 2450

Doesn't find scanner either from Photoshop 7 or SF-App. Mac OS-X 10.2.2. Scanner is connected by firewire. I have installed the latest Epson driver from the following site:

http://www.epsondevelopers.com/macscan/index.jsp

From within Photoshop, file/import/Epson TWAIN 5 works fine but not file/import/Silverfast (Epson). The demo version was downloaded from:
