CD Required to verify downloaded update

I have just downloaded a newer version SFTWE-6.2.0r4(EpsonIT8).exe for my Epson 1680 Pro and moved my scanner to my windows 2000 laptop.

But when I try to use the twain, I get a pop up asking for a serial number etc, which I enter BUT it then asks for a CD presumably to verify the serial number
I HAVE NEVER HAD A CD, I bought all the version on line. I also have to verify the download, so why is this necessary.

You start talking about this on your FAQ page, but fail to realise, we don't all have CD's.

Please make this much clearer and PLEASE send me a solution FAST, I have far too much work to do, without adding this to my list of problems.

Will I have the same problem, if I go back to my desktop NT system?

Dear Graham

please note that two different versions of the SilverFast SE software exist:
- The "Internet SE" is for customers who have bought their SilverFast in our online store.
- The "Bundle SE" is for customers who got a SilverFast CD-ROM bundled with their scanners.

Only with the "Bundle SE" variant a CD is necessary. Thus, if you don't have one because you bought an "Internet SE" earlier on, simply download the update for the "Internet SE" and serialize it with your personal data as entered when purchasing the Internet SE originally.

Dear Graham Owens.

Thanks for the interest in our SilverFast Software.

We always provide the CD with the Ai version, even if ordered online we ship the CD with the IT8 target in your case.
If you upgraded from an earlier version, i.e. SilverFast Ai 5.5 you may use the installation CD from the earlier version for serializing the upgrade.

You are right! We need to make this much clearer in our FAQ (and we will).

After digging through piles of ancient little silver round things I found my original Ai 5 CD, which as you say, worked.
