I have a Scanmaker E3 flatbed and Artixscan 4000t film scanner, both have been working fine using ScanWizard. Both are connected to the same SCSI card.
I bought SE Plus V6 for the 4000t. When trying to use Silverfast I get the error message - Cannot send command Set Window.
Tech support suggested trying aspi 4.72 and 4.6. Tried both no change. Tech support suggested only having one scanner connected. Disconnected flatbed. 4000t works fine using ScanWizard still produces same error message for Silverfast.
Using Windows XP.
Any suggestions?

markcv12,
The following FAQ might be of help.
================================
Q: General SCSI checklist
Please go through the below checklist before you contact LaserSoft-Imaging support.
A: - was the scanner switched on BEFORE starting the computer? (Essential in MS Windows and OS X) - is the SCSI termination correct (only last external device on bus)?
- is the SCSI ID correctly set (between 2 - 6)?
- is the SCSI ID occupied by another SCSI device? Each device needs a unique SCSI-ID - is the cable length correct? (Max. length: 1,5m = one external device; 3m = several devices)
- What SCSI card model is installed in your computer? Please do NOT use very fast SCSI cards (Ultra Wide or Ultra2 Wide) as such cards are designed to run hard drives, and can cause problems when being used with slower devices such as scanners. - did you try to put your SCSI card into another slot?
Windows
All: use the right ASPI driver: go to the German URL www.aspi-treiber.de and you?ll find in section ?ASPI-Layer the correct ASPI Layer driver for your SCSI card and your system.
Umax: Astra 4000u is NOT supported on Windows 2000
Umax: Microsoft systems install a default INF file for Umax devices. SilverFast will NOT work with Umax devices when the Microsoft hardware assistant installed the device using those generic Umax INF file. Please delete this device entry from the Windows device manager, install the Umax scan software using their INF file (on CD) and ONLY then SilverFast can communicate with the Umax scanner.
SCSI Bios: (if applicable)
Data transfer rate not too fast at scanner's ID? (5M/sec is lowest)
Please check whether you can do a scan using the manufacturer's original scan software, and send your answers to the above questions along with the "SF_logfile? to support@silverfast.de or to info@silverfast.com if you live in North or South America.

Silverfast SE won't start
Rag,
Thanks for the suggestions, all been tried.
Both scanners have been working fine for a few years connected together and using the original Microtek software.
I've now disconnected the flatbed so the film scanner is the only item connected to the scsi card. aspichk shows everything OK.
As another test I downloaded the trial version of Ai and it works fine. I've uninstalled and re-installed SE Plus and it still produces the same error message. Tech support in Germany don't have the answer either!!

Re: Cannot send command set Window messsage
Hi,
I know this is an old thread, but did anyone ever find a solution to this problem? I have a desktop that I have been using for years with my Silverfast Ai. It recently stopped working so I bought a laptop computer.
I loaded Silverfast Ai, but now I am getting the same error as was discussed on this thread about "cannot set command window". I have uninstalled and reinstalled, I've made sure that my Epson 4990 Perfection pro scanner has been turned on before my computer, etc.
I am not sure what else to do...any ideas? I now have Windows Vista and have even tried running it as Windows XP compatible, but that isn't working either.
Thank you for any help!

Re: Cannot send command set Window messsage
Dear Wamorgan,
Even though you are receiving the same message as the previous user, your case is quite different because your scanner is connected through a USB cable, you probably are using an older version of SilverFast which is not compatible with the operating system (windows vista).
Note that SilverFast is compatible with windows Vista 32 bits from version 6.5 onwards.
The latest version available is SilverFast 6.6.0r1
If that is the case, you need to obtain an upgrade to the latest version of SilverFast, you can find further details on our online shop at:

Re: Cannot send command set Window messsage
Mr. Morales,
Thank you so very much for your prompt response to my problem. The version of Silverfast was old compared to what is available now. I went and upgraded my version after reading your message and it worked without a problem at all! I guess I had just overlooked the obvious reason.
Thanks again,
Wendy

Dear Wamorgan,
I am glad you could solve your problem. Sometimes we are so busy trying to find a solution the deep into the problems, that we overlook to see the obvious.
