Black Prescan with Brand new Copy of Silverfast AI

System - Mac OS 10.3

Last week I downloaded the Silverfast AI Demo and was really impressed. However after one scan it stopped working and gave me a black screen on prescans. I reinstalled and it didn't improve.

Not deterred (since the one image I did scan was so impressive) I bought the full version. It arrived today and is still giving me a black screen on Prescan. My Canon software still functions fine. I have trashed the preferences and re launched and still no improvement.

I noticed on a search that a black prescan does commonly appear to indicate a problem, however there doesn't seem to be any consistent solution to this.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Solved by doing complete clean install after trashing everything associated with SilverFast I could find on the disk. Just removing Prefs didn't do the trick.

Problem has re-appeared after two successful scans. Completely black prescan which changes to blue-ish noise if I alter the 'Image Type ' setting.
