Ai6 not installing to CS4 (Mac OSX 10.5.8)

I've upgraded from Photoshop CS, where I have an Ai plug-in, to CS4 but the Ai6 installation disc isn't installing to CS4. I've next put an alias of the Silverfast app into CS4's Import-Export plug-ins folder and relaunched CS4 but that doesn't do the job either. Please help!

SilverFast 6 will only be compatible with photoshop up to cs2. Adobe changed the file transfer exchange from CS3 onwards. SilverFast will only be compatible with CS3 and CS4 from version 6.5.5 onwards.
In your case you will have to purchase an upgrade to the next product generation.

That strikes me as a bug fix issue.

I also forgot the mention that version 6 is also way older than Leopard and for that reason will not run correctly there, you might even have serialization problems. In any case you will need the upgrade to be able to operate with your system or Photoshop.

After overcoming some re-installation problems I am now running SilverFast Ai 6.4 through SF Launcher, with the scans set to open in CS4. That's acceptable to me, and avoids the need to buy an upgrade for what I see as a bug fix. True, I did have an issue getting the re-install to accept my serial number for a while but the program seems to have settled down.

It also seems to be working with Leopard, as it did before I did the re-instal. I don't think it's right to say version 6 will not run correctly under Leopard.

I am glad you could solve the installation problem. Perhaps SilverFast 6.4 worked for you, it might eventually work under Leopard but it also might not because it was programmed long before Leopard, that is the reason why you might eventually have some instability issues. That combination also does not meet the minimal technical requirements, hence you might not get access to proper support in case of problems.
