Using SilverFast with other software

Postby tigers » Tue Apr 15, 2008 10:47 am

I have recently purchased the plustek OpticFilm 7300 scanner to convert some of my old transparencies into photographs. It came bundled with SivlerFast 6.5 SE Plus and Presto PageManager 7. I am new to scanning and have spent several days reading the manuals and experimenting. However, although I can scan and print brilliant photographs with SilverFast, as soon as I transfer the file to PageManager to add text to the photograph (I'm using the photographs as DVD covers) there is a vast deterioration in picture quality. I have also tried using the scanned photo's with Adope Photoshop Elements V2, also with poor results. Can anyone advise me as to how I can add text to the scanned photo's without the loss of picture quality.

Dear Tigers,

just a quick tip for consideration. In order to print a CD cover, approx. 12 x 12 cm, from a 35mm slide you will need something like a 500% scale in SilverFast. The scanned file should be around 4-5 mbyte (tif format assumed).

Kind regards,

JAN
