Use Multiple Scanners with SF8 SE-Plus licence?

Postby arbib » Tue Apr 02, 2013 4:20 pm

I am about to buy a Flatbed Scanner for large format negatives, I already have a Plustek 7300 scanner I use for 35mm films, and want to continue using it for 35mm.

Can I use multiple scanners with a Single License with SF8 SE Plus.??
Or do I need another License to use a 2nd scanner.

IE: I want to use BOTH scanners with SF8 SE Plus, I just want to pick which scanner I will be using in the opening Splash page, where I have a drop down menu to select a scanner.

Dear customer,

SilverFast is always individually tailored to each device.
So each scanner needs it's own dedicated SilverFast module and license.

In case your new scanner does not already come with a SilverFast version you can purchase additional versions at a reduced price.
These cross-grades can be purchased by entering your existing serial in our web store.
Please click on the link in the yellow bar which comes up after selecting the scanner.
This will open an input field for the serial.
Select your existing device in the "Upgrade from" device selection and your target scanner under "Destination Product".
Then enter your serial and press validate.
The shop will now show the cross-grade prices.

kind regards,

Good to know,
I guess I just need to make sure the scanner I am not using is turned off, so the correct scanner is in the "Image Source" dropdown

My Epson V700 does have SF 6.6x with a free upgrade to SF SE8, which I will get before I use it...

Not sure if I can upgrade to SF8 SE+ at a discount...
As long as SF SE8 has Curves, Histogram, etc. as SE8+, and can read the separate negatives in the Multiple Holders....It should be fine.

Yes I saw that (1/2 price)... but, I prefer Epson Scan because it will automatically find, frame and number all the negatives with one Pre Scan... I don't have to manually frame each negative in other words. And it have the basics... Histogram (RBG/L) Levels, Contrast/Brightness, Sharpening, Color Balance, Dust Removal, Digital Ice, More Than enough to get a great scan to edit later with CS5.

I still use SF8 SE+ for my Plustek 7300 though. although, I may start scanning my 35mm with the V700 because it will automatically find, frame and number all 24 of the negatives with one Pre Scan..
