Sorry for the bad English but I used an automatic translator .
I tell my SilverFast for updating to version 8 :
1 step forward and one back over .
First of all, I appreciated that the pre-scan automatically detects the angle of the photos along with some other instrument for the calibration is found very useful.
The workflow has been rather annoying regressions compared to version 6 :
- It is virtually impossible to set as a preset destination folder , name , format (jpg tiff etc. . ) . As soon as you " Find panes " settings are set to a non-editable presets . So for you it should only scan in tif and only record in a given folder that you set : just ridiculous. The same thing happens in the advanced settings : if I work in cm do not see why reboot back to set itself in pixels.
- It would also be very helpful if the tab "Advanced Settings" can always be open , as well as " Find all the boxes" and " Scan sequence " .... Clik many useless ! So many little-used icons in the foreground while the recurrent hidden in the folds ! The previous version , although with some limitations , is a different pasta.
- The Preferences tab , which theoretically should give the possibility to manage everything first reported, merely interact with the various boards but not in the internal values : Practically useless.
I really hope to be contradicted , for now I was forced to go back to the previous version.
One thing seems clear : the workflow was clumsily organized by someone who does not work in the field.

Re: SiverFast 8 ?????!!!
Dear customer,
Are you using SilverFast Ai Studio?
In SilverFast Ai Studio you can save/load frame settings in the frame menu.
This also allows you to save your common settings and then select those in the SilverFast preferences' general tab as "Default settings".
Newly created frame will then use your saved settings instead of the standard values.
You can also set up your work screen and then save the windows' locations also in the Preferences' general tab.
Kind regards,
Arne Ketelhohn.
