SilverFast and EZ Color

Postby debugman » Tue Jan 06, 2009 2:36 pm

I received EZ color calibrating programm with my Epson V750 . With It I created an IT8 calibration profile.
In Silverfast options should I use this calibrated profile in "colorsync profiles : scanner (transparent)" or can I let the default "Epson V700 profile" delivered with the scanner and then use the "calibration IT8" offered by SF ? I do not really understand what SF do when It calibrates colors, does it create a real profile ?

Thanks a lot

I'm waiting for my Kodachrome IT8 target I've just bought !

Dear debugman

The purpose of an IT8 calibration is to create a profile that compensates any possible "deviations" your scanner might have (in terms of color, lightness, light source and perception) so you obtain more accurate colors thourghout your imaging process.
If you created a profile with your EZ color, you can also use it in SilverFast. This can be done by opening the "options" dialog and selecting the "CMS" tab.
Then select the option for reflective or transparency respectively and select the profile (in this case the one created during the calibration).

The default Epson V700 profile is a generic profile that works for all V750, you can leave that profile and the use the IT8 calibration in SilverFast to create a specific profile for your scanner.
