First of all, let me say that I'm not familiar with all the terms related to images and scanning - I only minimally understand the subject of profiles. So, any recommendations, please step me through if you will please.
I'm on Win XP Pro and have a Microtek Scanmaker i900 with SilverFast v6.4.2r2b installed. This particular scanner was replaced not long ago under warranty. On both my previous i900 and the 8700 I had before that, I had no problems getting richly colored, fairly accurate scans of transparencies using nothing except curves adjustments. I never went into the Options tab.
Of course, in all cases, I ran the calibration for both reflective and transparency.
Now it seems like the prescan image might look well saturated and good color, but the resultant scan is much more faded out. In all the options I've clicked thru, I don't see a setting specifically for saturation.
Right now, I have Color Management > Input > Internal set to Image Color Matching (the only available option besides none). Internal > Output is set to RGB.
Under Profiles for ICM, Scanner (Transparency) is set to Microtek Scanmaker i900 / Positive Film. I tried Kodak Positive film and that was not as good.
The above settings seem to render a fairly good scan, but I still have to adjust curves because the prescan is alwasy too blue. After the scan, I always have to pump up the saturation.
Is there something else I should be doing to render richer scans?
Saturation of transparency scan
