REALLY dark color calibration

Postby edvan22 » Sun Sep 29, 2002 9:25 pm

I have been trying to calibrate my Polaroid SS4000 scanner with SilverFast 5.5 AI running from photoshop. I do a prescan, crop the as shown in the manual and on web tutorials, and start calibration. Grayscale goes normally and the colors in the prescan look like the target (for the most part) The color calibration scan is REALLY dark and only the lightest color blocks are discernable as color. The rest are almost black.. I have tried all different settings and even reinstalled the program. Calibration is more successful if I use Adobe RGB profile for internal on the CMS tab under options/Profiles for ICM. This is against the reccomendation in Ian Lyons tutorial. Any ideas?

Thanks,

ED

IT8-Calibration with Polaroid SS4000

IT8-Calibration with Polaroid SS4000 too dark

Please check that you have not selected "48bit HDR-Color". Also selecting Adobe-RGB for internal colour space should be OK.

Since this is a very special problem, it would be better to communicate with our support directly!

Dark Color Calibration

It may be possible that you have not calibrated your monitor correctly. I do not use third party software for monitor calibration. I only use the Adobe gamma utility, and get great results. If your black and white levels are not calibrated correctly, the dark calibration you speak of could result.
