I just purchased a Plustek Opticfilm 7300 for the purpose of scanning 50 year old Kodachrome slides. It came with Silverfast SE Plus 6.6.0, a truly amazing software which I look forward to becoming an expert in it's use. I have been using the standard type setting. Is this correct for Kodachrome slides? The end purpose is to create a slideshow in IDVD and burn it to disc to watch on a large screen TV. What resolution setting would be a good starting point to get a good picture on a 55/60" TV set? My slides have of course lots of dust and scratches which I hope to improve with the ISRD software. Your website lists Plustek 7200, 7500 and 7600 but not the 7300 which I have. Does that mean the ISRD function will not work this scanner? Thank you for your help!

Re: Question about resolution and image type.
Dear Mike,
SilverFast has a Kodachrome mode made to correct the blue cast present in Kodachrome slides. If that is what you mean by "standard" then yes, it's correct.
The first thing you should know is the resolution of the TV set you are going to watch your pictures. Let's assume it is a Full HD TV set, then it will have a resolution of 1920 + 1080 pixels.
On our blog you will find a series of articles explaining the resolution panel in SilverFast, I believe they will help you understand and solve your questions. You should check them out:

part 2 here: http://blog.silverfast.com/quicktip-managing-resolution-controls-in-silverfast-part-ii/
part 3 here: http://blog.silverfast.com/quicktip-managing-resolution-controls-in-silverfast-part-iii/
iSRD is a hardware based tool, it means, the scanner itself's gotta have an infrared channel. The Plustek Opticfilm 7300 does not have an infrared channel, hence iSRD is not present for your scanner only SRD (software based tool).
Cheers
