PS Elements Reduces DPI

Postby RichardBriggs » Sat Dec 31, 2011 11:08 am

Hi, I have been scanning slides using a Plustek 7600 with Silverfast (6). I did some test scans and decided upon 3600dpi as the best compromise between quality and image size and scan time. Looking at the resultant Tiffs in MS Office 2010 Picture Viewer I can see under 'properties' that the image is indeed showing 3600 dpi.

However, if I fine tune the TIFF image by opening in in Photoshop Elements Raw Editor, then open the image in PSE proper the resultant image is now shown as 240dpi. Anyone any idea what's happening here?

Hi There,

Perhaps is Photoshop Elements showing you the printing resolution and not the total resolution which was used to scan your files. It is irrelevant in this case as long as your files have the same absolute amount of pixels on each side.
