Hi everyone.
I'm totally new to negative scanning having bought a Plustek 7300 scanner only yesterday. I have the negatives from two rolls of Neopan 400. I've been trying to scan all day with no luck, and it's driving me mad. My problem is that the end result looks ABSOLUTELY NOTHING like Neopan. There is a lack of tonal range and the scanned result looks like it's missing a load of information from the film. Any advice or recommendations would be greatly welcomed.
Tim

Dear NeopanTim,
Please try scanning your Neopan film using the 48 bits HDR mode, this will allow you to create a completely unmodified RAW file, in the end you will obtain a negative but with a big dynamic range, you can then make the inversion of the file in your editing application.
Another option would be to create your own NegaFix profile
You can find instructions on how to modify an existent profile to create your own can be found here:

and some helpful video clips here:

Thanks very much. I'll try the 48 bit HDR route tomorrow. The software that came with my Plustek 7300 scanner was Silverfast SE Plus. Would I still be able to modify or create new profiles with this software? If so, how?

Dear NeopanTim,
I believe in your case the HDR way described will be the best. The modification and creation of new NegaFix profiles is only possible in SilverFast Ai or Ai Studio. If you are interested, you can download and test the demo version from:
http://www.silverfast.com/get_demo/en.html
If you are happy with the outcomes you can then acquire a serial number on our online store at:

Thanks for your interest.
