Prescan looks good; scan looks bad

Everything looks fine when I make a prescan with gamma set to 1.0:


However when I scan it, it doesn't look like the prescan:


The best results I've gotten are with Gamma set to 2.2 and "for HDR output" turned on. (Pictured above.)

The prescan is supposed to look like the real thing, isn't it? How do I get the scan to look right?

Hi Travis,

You are probably scanning in HDR mode which creates an unmodified raw file of your pictures, it means the inversion into positive is not made in SilverFast but it seems to me you are doing it from photoshop.

With raw files the orange mask of your negative picture is not removed. hence the blue cast.

In the case of negatives you have a couple of options:

-Scan and save your picture in 24 bit scan mode where the inversion to positive will take place in SilverFast (along with the orange mask detection).

-If you want to scan in 48 bit HDR, then you can use SilverFast HDR (the editing application) to make the mask detection and inversion to positive.
