Prescan good, scan horribly dark. 400iso 120 negs.

The prescan is ideal but, despite trying all the knobs, the scan is always very dark. I am scanning 120 negative 400 film (Fuji).

Looking through FAQs and queries I see that others have had the problem but either find a difficult workaround or say LaserSoft recognise this and are bringing out a fix.

Anything you know that works today?

Dear Adrian

can it be that you're scanning in an HDR mode? If so, SilverFast would deliver unmodified scans at gamma 1.0. Consequently. these images would appear quite darkish in an app/environment/on a monitor set to a much higher gamma (e.g. 1,8-2,2).

It's not that. Do LaserSoft need to come clean?

Thank you for that. Fact is, I have scanned straight, HDR and everything in between. Same result. I am about to abandon the effort and pay a commercial scanner a lot of money. I do think this is a LaserSoft - B/W neg issue. I faxed Germany but they are keeping schtum and hoping I will go away. (So as not to advertise a known glitch?)
