Pre-scan calibration selection

Postby L J Hyde » Mon May 31, 2010 10:49 pm

I am using a Kodak Q60E3 target (third party) for scans of Kodak Ektachrome transparencies. Would this target also work for Kodak Elite Chrome EB-100, or would I need something different? I am also scanning Kodachrome and have calibrated for it using Lasersoft's bar coded IT8 target. My work flow requires random scans of all three transparency types. In SilverFast Ai under the "General Tab" and "Pos./Neg." drop down menu there are three options: "Positive", "Kodachrome", and "Negative". I have noticed that when I switch transparency type (e.g., Elite Chrome to Kodachrome), the selection remains fixed on "Positive", so I need to make a manual selection to load the correct calibration reference. I was under the impression (from an earlier post) that the selection would automatically be switch to Kodachrome. I would assume that "Positive" applies to anything non Kodachrome. Is this correct? I would further assume that this is where the Q60 calibration resides? It would seem helpful, or at least reassuring, if one could actually see a selection list of stored calibrations to choose from. Thanks,

It is absolutely correct!

That is where the user manual comes in.

There is in fact a color management option with such a list, check chapter 7 of the user manual http://www.silverfast.com/download/docu/manual,complete_en_2006-11-27.pdf
Or our SilverFast blog, section "Quicktips": http://blog.silverfast.com/
