Maximum Scan Resolution Epson 1680?

Postby Gabej » Wed Nov 01, 2006 7:25 pm

I've got an Epson 1680 who's stated optical scan resolution is 1600x3200. If I'm scanning a 2x2 inch negative at the high end of this scanners optical resoution (2x2 inch scan at 1600) does that mean the largest possible printing size (at 300dpi) is roughly 10x10 inches? That seems pretty pathetic. I'm looking to do prints at least 36"x36". To do that do I need a scanner with at least 3x the optical scan resolution?

Thanks for your help.

Gabej,

The answer is yes if you do not want your images interpolated.
