lpi

Postby garyritson » Tue Jul 17, 2012 9:19 pm

Hello there, I am not getting very far with understanding lpi. I am archiving my negatives with HDR studio and wish only to ever print them on standard 6x4 size or maybe 5x7 if I get a good one. I may even upload them to a web photo book service. Could anyone tell me what lpi I should be using please. I am currently using 150lpi but im not sure id this will be the best for eventually printing out for individual photos or indeed a photo book. Any help would be great,
Thanking you

Gary

Dear Gary,

The lpi is a direct function of the set resolution (dpi).
It is only used by pre-press workflows to produce images achieving a certain lpi for a offset printing machine.

For normal workflows you do not have to worry about this value.

kind regards,
Arne ketelhohn.

If you do not forward your images to an offset printer which requires special values you simply leave the field as it is and do not enter any special value.
It is calculated automatically.
