Hi Frank ( degrub )and folk
This whole issue of what sacanning software I should stick with stems from my recent exasperating experiences with my submissions to a well known Stock Agency. Until recently, I never had a problem with my Nikonscan 4 software scanned mages being accepted and have accumulated some 500 selling well images in my Catalogue. Of late however it's a different story...
They are being rejected-lots of them???
Could it be that the quality bars been raised through the roof since the majority of their stock submisions are now from high end 15 megapixel plus cameras ( which I have as a matter of fat)-which produce a completely 'different' looking file to a 50mb scan.
Indeed it makes me think that their quality control team have youngsters who have never even seen a film scan-and cringe reject them out of sight when they do??!-exagerrate to stress a point!
The perverse thing is that my best selling images in catalogue are still film scans!
So, that you know where I'm coming from my scans are typically from images shot using
Canon L series -lenses-high-end glass,
the Nikon ls5000ed,
scanned on a colour managed imac 24inch.
And so to my main query as to why they are being rejected; Could it be that my latest rejected scans are appearing far too soft for their liking 'these days' They review them at 100percent on a mac or similar obviously.
Perhaps I should just sharpen them more and hope to get away with it- lol?!
My work-flow to date was/is like yours,
scan at 48bit 4000ppi
using just ICE-normal settting,
NO sharpening in-scan,
Processed in PS -all in 48 bit -levels
and ONLY nominal sharpening using USM...
Finally flatten layers and convert them to 24bit RGB before sending off to Agent.
What to do I wonder? SIlverfast isn't going to solve it of course!
Anybody else experiencing these issues.
Kind regards people,
Steve

Hi Steve,
I hope any of our forum users can provide you with some useful information.
You should also try asking the same questions directly the stock agency, perhaps those guys will shed some light on this matter.
Kind regards

Dear Steve,
No problem, my contribution is very limited anyway, as I already pointed you might want to try contacting the agency to check what is failing.
Cheers and good luck
