Kodak Gold 800 scanning problems
I am trying to scan Kodak Gold 800 negatives using a Plustek OticFilm 7300 scanner, the images are very grainy and i have tried everything to get a ungrainy image - they print fine from the neg but wont scan - any ideas on how to resolve this issue?

Re: Kodak Gold 800 scanning problems
Dear blv08,
all films only offer a certain physicall resolution.
If you are scanning above this limit you will be able to see the individual grains of the film emulsion.
You can use the GANE-filter to remove grain from an image.
The printer would have to be able to print at a resolution of more than 3600dpi to show the grain.
If this happens at lower resolutions you probably experience noise from the imaging sensor.
You can use MultiScan or MultiExposure to remove those during scanning.
kind regards

Dear blv08,
Have you had any success with your problem? If you print off your scan, is it still grainy or is it as good as printing off the negative? I have had similar problems and am interested in your outcome.

Dar blv08,
ISO 800 film has a big grain. You might want to try the GANE filter as recommended by my colleague.
Cheers
