Job Manager help

Please help me... I just purchased a canoscan 9950f for batch scanning 35mm negatives. By reading, I understand the best way to go about this is to use JM. I'm trying to follow directions, however, I'm missing buttons on silverfast AI.
I am only using the demo version before I purchase... I can't find the "overview button."
Can someone help me with scannin multiple negatives????

Dear Michelle

no overview button with a flatbed scanner.

Do a full size prescan and then draw multiple scan frames. You can save your scan frame setup for further use on the "General" tab of the main dialogue.

Then you can add the frames to the JobManager.

I do not have the three buttons mentioned in the documentation either, so it is possible the interface has changed or is different depending on the scanner being used.

I have an Epson 4990 scanner.

I have a ton of 35mm negatives and each one will require scratch and dust removal. What is the best way to go about correcting this? Should I batch scan them or use JM.

Should I order the silverfast program on cd or download?

I use the batch method myself, but the images I work with don't all require the same level of dust & scratch removal or tonality corrections.

First - You are using a downloaded demo version of SilverFast AI/Studio? Not the SE version bundled with the scanner? The bundled SE version has fewer options than the full version, and is not a demo.

I bought a 9950F for the same reason as you. I found that for my purposes, the AI studio version had the job manager which allows me to set the processing parameters for each slide individually. The result is not good enough scanning 12 slides with the samme settings. And I use the multipass option on some dark slides, which gives a slight improvement.
