horizontal band down center of transparency Epson 4990

Postby PMcD » Mon Jul 17, 2006 9:19 pm

HI
I am scanning pan radiographs (dental film - the one that goes around your head) Regardless of where I place the film on the scanner (right, center, or left) I get a distinct band running the full length of the film.
Is this a common problem with the scanner EPSON 499O or with the SilverFast soft ware?
Is there a simple solution?
I would greatly apprecitate any help with this problem as I am not very savy with computers.
Thank you in advance

i assume that u do it without the film holder. as for there might be some problem with the contact of your film with the glass. try to do it without contact somehow. if your film is a little bent that try to put it in different sides, later u can flip or rotate it as needed.

Please take a look at the film holder supplied with the scanner. There is a calibration area, which always needs to stay clear of film. Any obstruction in this area, even dust, will cause horizontal lines in the scan.
