Dark Scans

All my scans are about 1/2 to 1 stop dark. I am using the default settings, scanning with Ai Studio 8 and a Plustek 8200i scanner (scanner is new and driver and software are both up to date). Slides are mostly Fujifilm positives. At this point I have to go to histogram and adjust white point down to the end of the histogram and then it looks ok then. Auto CCR adjusts tonality fine but screws up the color - so I don't use it, and Workflow Pilot is turned Off. Any ideas?

Dear Robert,

The automatic basically sets the highlights and shadows.
So using the automatic or doing this manually is a necessary step.

If you click and hold the Auto CCR button for about a second you can select from a list of different automatics.

It sounds like the color cast removal (CCR) might be responsible, so try using the pure "Auto" (without the CCR).

First, let me correct what I said previously: the scans are about 1 to 1.5 stops dark. The workflow I use is full manual (Workflow Pilot turned off), PreScan, set resolution and destination folder, Histogram to adjust for dark scan, set ME, iSRD, and finally Scan. The IT 8 Calibration slide was used initially (recently) and calibration done. So, I'm not even using Auto CCR at all since I am in full manual, if I understand correctly? If that's the case what is causing the dark slides? I do see in Preferences where I can turn off the CCR (and Auto Contrast is already off), but if I don't use the Auto CCR tool does this matter?

Dear Robert,

Adjusting the highlights and shadows in the histogram is a necessary step for each image.
This has to be done for every scan.
Either manually in the Histogram or using the auto adjustment.
