I want to scan old Kodachrome slides (35 mm) from the' 60s and' 70s.
I'm using a Canon CanoScan 9000F MarkII.
I wish to calibrate this scanner accordingly.
Which calibration target(s) should I use?
Thanks by advance,
Brieuc-Yves

Dear Brieuc-Yves,
Kodak no longer develops Kodachrome film. Therefor Kodachrome targets can no longer be produced.
You might be able to get a used Kodachrome target though.
Kind regards,
Arne

Dear Arne,
Are you aware from any 'Kodachrome Club', or specialized shop in the Netherlands?
I put to you this question because may be I could ask them whether someone has the Silverfast Kodachrome IT8 target; and then I could bring along my scanner in order to be calibrated against a fee.
Buying a second hand target costs me odd 800 euro on specialised sites or on e-Bay without guarantee that it works for my scanner.
Thanks by advance.

Dear Brieuc-Yves,
No, unfortunately, I have not heard about a club or service like that.
But that sounds like something that would work.
You then only need to select the created .icc colorspace in the SilverFast CMS tab.
Please note that the calibration itself requires a SilverFast Ai studio version. The Kodachrome mode itself is included in SE Plus too.
Second-hand targets indeed are a little risky. You would need to be sure the target is in good condition. However, any target that comes with a cleartext (.txt or .cxf) reference file should be usable. If it is a target produced by us (having our logo and a barcode on it) the Calibration could also be done automatically.
Kind regards,
Arne
