Batch scanning in Silverfast SE

Postby wildsnaps » Tue Oct 14, 2008 5:36 pm

Hi,

I recently purchased the Mac version of Silverfast SE and am currently having a bit of a problem: I cannot work out for the life of me how to get batch scanning to work.

I have loaded my scanner (a Minolta 5400) with four slides, clicked on the film-strip icon to preview all four shots. In the "General" settings, scan mode is set to "Batch (file)", yet when I click scan, it only does one image. What am I missing?

Kind regards

Simon

Dear Wildsnap,

You are doing everything right, the only step you are missing is selecting the four frames in the preview window to be scanned in the batch sequence.
To do so, please open the small preview window to check all frames in the film holder, you will then select the frames to be scanned using shift key, you will see the selected frames with a white background (while the non-selected frames will have a grey background).
You can then close that window pressing the "ok" button and then proceed to make your end scans.

Thank you for your interest in our products

Have a nice day

i have the same problem with Silverfast SE using a Canoscan FS4000US - I cannot get the batch scan to work, it only scans one frame. I don't have a small preview window, only the one on the toolbar which shows the frames and even though selecting all frames and getting a white border around them, it still only scans one frame. I would be most grateful for your help.

Dear Zozo,

It is very hard to tell because it depends on the version you have, the batch scanning for SE version of SilverFast was implemented in a certain version of SilverFast, previous versions do not have the batch feature.
To provide you with better support I recommend you to use out support assistent, if you go over the questions for technical support, you will eventually come to a support form which you can fill out to directly contact our support department where your case can be followed individually.

Cheers

Dear Zozo

Have you tried selecting batch mode in the "general" tab, under the menu "scan mode" ? perhaps you have not changed that setting hence SilverFast scans only one of the pictures even after selecting them all in the oveview window.

Please check the menu I recommended you and then make sure you select Batch scan.

Greetings

I use laser soft version 6.5 with optic film 7300 scanner

cannot understand how to have multiple prescan frames in the prescan window. I set multiple scan than I prescan first slide and draw a frame. than cannot reduce the frame to make room for a second frame as suggested in the manual (and third etc).
I tried also to draw two or tree frames first and then select each one and prescan with different slides but it does not work.
My purpose is to produce batch scan of many frames.
I suggest to improve the description in the manual (I read the italian one)
Or is it because the optic film scanner does not support multiple frames?
thank you for help.
