I have been using silverfast for the first time, well it been 5 wks now.
Im using a macbook pro, epson v700 & S/F6.6
Q.1
I am scanning all sizes of glass plate negs, upto 80,000 of them for a collection, im at about 700 so far, but when is comes to 8x10 plates i seem to Having problems. i cant get the whole plate to be scanned, it either cuts off the top or the bottom. it also takes the whole screen up not allowing me to put a box around the edge, i am within the the film guide, have i missed a setting???
Q.2
Recently when scanning, the scanner will only scan to total black, in preview or scan, it also takes ages for a pass. i could of been scanning for 5 min or for 3 hrs then it happen, nothing but black. it doesnt pick up any plate info at all. have tried total shut down, reload, resting the scanner, still no go, nothing but black.. any ideas pls.
i am also newish to the mac enviroment so pls go easy on me...
Thanks RC-A

Re: 8x10 glass plate issues & now scanning black
Hi RC-A
Actually the scan surface of the transparency unit is smaller than the one dedicated to reflective material. Please make sure you use the guides provided with the scanner and not to go over those areas. Also make sure you select the scanning mode "transparency full area".
This might be related to the first question, if you do not use the film holders, you might be covering the reserved area of the scanner producing either strange colored lines patterns or entirely black.
Also make sure you have removed the covering slide off the transparency unit.
Cheers
