Hi,
I am using Silverfast SE updated to version 6.5 for my epson 4990 scanner. I want to scan my 4 x 5 Tmax 100 negatives in 16 bit. The only options that come up under the Scan Type profile are either 16->8 Bit Grayscale or 16 Bit HDR Grayscale. I will manipulate the scans in Photoshop 7. Why won't the 16 Bit Grayscale Option activate?
What is 16 Bit HDR Grayscale and will it give me 16 bit scans?
If the 16 Bit Grayscale is not available in my SE version, ( By the way, the 16 Bit Grayscale Option is not available in my Nikon LS 2000 version SE-Plus version6.5. download r3>5 either) and 16 Bit HDR Grayscale will not give me 16 bit scans, the what Silverfast program do I need to upgrade to?
Thanks, Steve

Hello Steve,
I don't know why 16-bit grayscale won't work for you, but you will be better off scanning as color anyway. In color mode you end up with three channels of data Vs one in grayscale and you will appreciate the extra image information when you edit your images in Photoshop.
Happy Holidays!!!
