Postby larrygm » Sat Oct 04, 2008 6:28 pm

Does the Nikon Coolscan 5000 version of Silverfast include a driver for Windows Vista 64-bit? Is there anyone out there would could share a web link for the driver?

Thanks

Hi everyone,
there is a lot of topics concerning Nikon + Vista 64 in this forum, so it is a little bit confused for me. I use NikonScan software (not quite satisfied with it) and Windows Vista 64-bit - when I installed the software I had to install first v**s**n with drivers and then NikonScan without drivers to make it work. Yesterday I tried install Silverfast (demo) the same way and it seems to work properly - is it solution? Could it work really fully correct? I would like to purchase full version, but doesn´t want waste money if it doesn´t work properly :-) thanks for your views.

Skot

P.S. sorry for eventually mistakes in my english :)

Dear Skot,

We have already heard from another person who reported about this solution, however SilverFast (NikonM), which is the windows version, was designed to work exclusively with the Maid driver from Nikon (hence the name NikonM).
Although reported from another couple of people, we can not guarantee SilverFast will work properly using this solution. We can not even guarantee SilverFast will serialize using this method and there might be some third party features which might not work at all like ICE.

Since this combination doesn't meet the technical requirements for SilverFast to properly work, we can not offer any support in case of issues.

We are studying the possibility of reprogramming SilverFast or create another driver but there is no timeframe for that.

Thanks for your understanding

Cheers
