Dear rusland
please refer to our supported scanners list for scanners supported by the SilverFast scanning software -> https://www.silverfast.com/product/en.html
However, we are planning to support the Epson 4670 in the not-to-far future (this year). Please don't press me for an exact date, as development or testing processes can ultimately also lead to abandoning any given project.
Thanks for your interest and have a look on that list from time to time to find out if support has been implemented.

that was early last year. has there been any progress? i too have a 4670 and find the hp software nearly useless.
i get a dialog saying "There was no scanner found !" and directing me to "SF_LogFile inside Your SilverFast Folder". the scanner does nothing. a search turns up the log file in a preferences folder. its listing of USB devices shows my keyboard and the things plugged into it. it lists the other USB busses as empty.
the plugin is "SilverFast (hp) (E-6.4.2r2a Serial)" (although the download page said USB).
i am running Mac OS 10.3.9 on a B&W G4, with an ADS Tech USB2 card. plugging the scanner into the native USB port makes no difference. the system profiler shows the scanner present, along with all the other USB devices plugged in.

please try the SilverFast demo version for the HP Scanjet 8200.
Do your scanner react at all?
Thank you in anticipation of your kind co-operation.
Best regards

I'm afraid that I can't help with the Mac side of things, but my wife has an HP 4670 scanner on her Windows XP system and she is similarly appalled at the HP software. We tried the demo of SilverFast Ai Studio with the version of Windows TWAIN for the HP 8250 (the USB version of the 8200) and it worked fine, so we have just purchased it and are looking forward to much superior scanning.

I may have been hasty.
After buying the download version of Ai Studio for the hp 8250 it turns out that it will not serialize on the PC with the 4670.
It worked fine in demo mode. my wife gave it an extensive workout and loved the software despite it being as much as we paid for the scanner.
I'm hoping the technical support team can get it working.

I have been notified by E-Mail that the developers are working on adding support for the 4600 series and hopefully we will hear something any day.
Over the weekend my wife tried using the demo mode with some film negatives to see how well it worked and now she is more impatient than ever to have the full version of Ai Studio working on the 4670.
It is truly wonderful software!

Hooray!
We got a patch from the developers that allowed us to serialize our Ai Studio!
We're very happy. It is astonishing how much more capable a scanner the 4670 becomes with Ai Studio than it is with the supplied software.
Cheers for LaserSoft!
