HP Photosmart 3210

Postby Col. Hanzaplast » Sat Dec 03, 2005 9:10 pm

Hello

I am a new owner of a Photosmart 3210. Since that model is not referenced on supported scanner list maybe it is compatible with a ScanJetxxx ?

I scanned some diapositive to test and I am surprised by quality. :P
HP clamp 4800dpi OPTICAL. Is it possible ? :o

Thx
Col. Hanzaplast

Hello Col. Hanzaplast,

If I understand correctly you are asking if HP has locked the scan resolution to 4800 Optical, is that correct?

Here is what their web site says:

Scan specifications
Image editor included
Integrated OCR software automatically converts scanned text to editable text
Integrated 35 mm film scanning, up to 6 negatives or 4 slides
NOTE: Positive 35 mm film is supported. Negative 35 mm film mounted as a slide is not supported.

Scan speeds vary according to the complexity of the document
Twain-compliant interface
Resolution: 4800 x 4800 dpi optical, up to 19,200 dpi enhanced
Color: 48-bit color, 8-bit grayscale (256 levels of gray)
Maximum scan size from glass: 216 x 305 mm (8.5 x 12 inches)

Is there a workaround for supporting the 3210xi?

Postby mtremain » Thu May 25, 2006 11:44 pm

Hi, just didn't see an answer to the initial question in this post. I have the 3210xi and my scans of prints show a strong warm color cast. Hoping SilverFast might give me better color control. The scanner is not listed as being supported but am wondering if it would work using one of the profiles that is supported.

In my observations if your scanner is not on the SilverFast supported list it may work with the software for another model, but this is not supported by LaserSoft and you would be without support if problems arise.

Dear HP users

if you like to see your scanner be supported, let our marketing staff know:
https://www.silverfast.com/problemreport ... sMarketing

When a scanner becomes supported by SilverFast, it will always be listed promptly on the supported scanners list:
https://www.silverfast.com/product/en.html

If it is NOT on this list however, while it may work with a close-enough scanner selected for a demo, there still might be other reasons why the scanner isn't listed.
Please DON'T simply buy a version for another scanner thinking the serial number you'll get will be able to serialise for your model, too. It most often WON'T.
Rather you want to contact our sales staff before a purchase to let them check for you whether you can successfully serialise SilverFast with your scanner and tell them that you could successfully use demo version for what model with your scanner.
Thank you in anticipation of your kind co-operation.

Best regards
Sonny Noack
