Hardware Based Dust/Scratch Support for G4050

Postby Mountain Visions » Wed Jan 02, 2008 2:18 am

Hi,

I'm just purchased the G4050, tried in vain to use the HP software, downloaded your trial (not too happy that I wasted time on watermarked images, wish you would just give a full 10 day trial).

However, the issue for me buying it is the dust removal. It's part of why I purchased this scanner along with the 30 frame negative option.

I am trying to archive about 10 years worth of film, perhaps 30,000 frames. I would prefer to not have to clone out the dust on all 30,000 frames.

Do you know when you will be able to support hardware based dust and scratch removal? And will this be a free upgrade?

Thanks,

Justin

Dear Justin,
we will have to look into that as the original specs that we got from HP did not include the usage of the Infrared channel !
If we update SF to use that feature it will be a free upgrade for the existing users of that major version ( e.g. if we implement it in a 6.5xx version and you already have a 6.5yy version than its for free ).

Greetings,

Nils Heidorn
