G4050 6 colors scan support

Postby Yui » Mon Jul 21, 2008 8:02 am

Hi

Having problems with HP SW I decided to try SF AI demo 6.6.0.1.
I understand there is no HW IR dust and scratch removal in that SF version but it is stated the 6 colors scanning is supported.

I see [6] button on the SF pannel. It changes the color then I press it.

I make few negative scans with this optoion and I was little bit surprised.

First of all, I do not see any differences in two scans - one with gray [6] and onother with colored [6]. I assume the gray [6] is 6 colors turned Off and the colored [6] is for 6 colors turned on.

Ok, it may be the difference is not so significant to be easily seen from two scan. I can understand that.
On the other hand, the HP software makes 2 passes if the option is turned On. It could be detected by the scanning lamp movement.

As far as I understand, the scanner has two lamps with shifted spectrum profiles and the 6 colors scanning is combination of the two passes - each pass with own lamp. Furtermore, the 6 colors with IR dust removal is 3 passes.

For SF I see only one pass for gray [6] and colored [6]. There is no the second pass as it was expected.

So I can imagine the 6 colors in SF is supported differently from HP software. If it is so I would like to know the main principles of the 6 colors support in SilverFast Ai 6.6.

Does anybody have this information?
