Any plans to support new HP Scanner G4050

Postby Schaagi » Tue Jan 09, 2007 10:01 pm

Hello

I have purchased the new HP scanner G4050, with the possiblity to scan 16 slides together. Because the software is not perfect and there are a lot of bugs in the program, I hope, there are any plans to support this scanner with the Silverfast software.

Best regards
Schaagi

How about HP Scanjet G4050 support?

Hello SilverFast-Team,

Greetings,

Nils Heidorn, R & D, LaserSoft Imaging

could you please tell us about the state of the HP Scanjet G4050 support of SilverFast? The HP software is completely "crap", crashes many times and is close of beeing unuseable. We urgently need a stable and feature rich scan software for this really well working HP scanner hardware. So please help with an implementation of SilverFast that supports HP Scanjet G4050.

Thank you very much in advance for your help.

Best regards from Germany

Matthias

Dear Matthias,

as stated before we are working on it and our internal Tests are already promising.
This scanner takes a bit longer to port SilverFast to as it has many special features ( e.g. 6 color Scan and Infrared ) that we have to care for.
There are also other things we want to enable that even HP did not do, so i am very optimistic that your waiting will be rewarded by a good SilverFast port.

Please give us some more time, we are working hard on it.

Greetings,

Update on the G4050

Postby Mountain Visions » Tue Jun 12, 2007 6:48 pm

Hi Nils,

I was hoping you could update us on the progress on the G4050 software. On paper the hardware of this scanner looks impressive, also the ability for me to scan dust free film 30 frames at a time is incredible. However, every review I've seen said this scanner is flawed because of HP software.

I am eagerly awaiting Silverfast version of software for the G4050 and holding off purchasing one till the software becomes avail but I'd love an update on when you expect this software to be avail and will it be released in beta form before actual release?

Thanks in advance,

Justin

Dear Justin & G4050 Users !

SilverFast will come out with a PC Version fpr the G4050 soon !

There are some minor problems left which have to be "straightened" before we can offer this for purchase !

So keep your eyes open &i hope to post it here as it happens.

Dear gorillaradio ( :-) ),
If a Mac version will come out is'nt yet decided as we would have to invest quite some more work in it and HP seems to be 99% in the PC world.
However it is technically possible...

The PC version is on a good way. it seems to me that we will start offering the G4050 Version within the next days, probably shortly after release of the 650r8 version if not at the same time.

I am testing right now, please be sure to use the *very* latest HP drivers ( 9.0 ) before trying it out...

Dear Tquist,
one thi?ng is going on, we are currently testing if we can offer the G4050 with an unexpected bonus :-)
I can't tell more details, but lets hope it works.
In any case if with our without this special feature it will be out very soon...

I didn't feel need for the IR-thing so I bought the G4010. Same scanner apart fron IR.

Problem for me is that there seems to be no support for the G4010 either. Perhaps it is easy to fix it when the G4050 is available.

I have als? posted a question about this problem here http://www.silverfast.com/forum/hp-scanjet-g4010-t4911.html

Sorry for jumping in on your thread.

Dear Helifoto,
as the version for the G4050 is out since some weeks we already got the time to look at the G4010 !
I hope we can port SilverFast to the G4010 soon, i'll post it here if we have a final decision / result.

Greetings,

Nils Heidorn
