I noticed today on the news site that there are some pricing reductions for certain "high-end" scanners, notably non of those listed would be considered "consumer" scanners.
Among those listed are the Howtek scanners, D2500, D4000/4500, D5500, D6500 and D7500.
My cynical side suggests to me these are being discounted now because support for them is going to be dropped completely.
There's been little to no development on Silverfast for these models for some time now, so I will ask the question directly.
Are Lasersoft planning to continue support for these models of scanner through their next versions, or is support for these going to be ceased with current versions?

Re: New Pricing
Dear DJ,
really good question. My rational side suggests that we plan to keep offering support for these scanners for as long as we can. See the "high-end" is where SilverFast first started, that's where the core of SilverFast is coming from. So we feel a certain obligation to continue supporting these qualitywise still unrivaled high-end scanners as long as it's technically possible for us.
Businesswise it's probably not the smartest decision, but it's not a bad idea either and we're not greedy
Best,
