With the Howtek 4500 how does SilverFast determine aperture size when I select the auto setting? Is the formula based solely on output resolution? I would like to experiment with different apertures on some films but it would help to know what the "auto" aperture is for any given optical resolution. For example, some scan software offers auto and then an auto +1 auto +2 for times when grain aliasing is an issue at higher resolutions. Thanks

Dear amadou.
You are right, the aperture is selected based on the scanning resolution in auto mode.
4000 - 2991 dpi: -> 6
2992 - 1643 dpi: -> 13
1646 - 1141 dpi: -> 19
1142 - 872 dpi: -> 25
873 - 703 dpi: -> 32
704 - 569 dpi: -> 38
570 - 434 dpi: -> 51
435 - 333 dpi: -> 64
334 - 266 dpi: -> 83
267 - 212 dpi: -> 102
213 - 106 dpi: -> 127
106 - dpi: -> 254
Best regards
Eric.
