Hi, I got a problem lately with SliverFast 6.2.0r7 iSE. As mentioned in the title, it loses my scanner (Umax 6400 firewire) every time after each restart of my windows xp pro sp1a (w/ all xp updates). I have to uninstall the scanner from device manager each time and then reboot and give the scanner driver after windows detects the scanner to make it work (ie. to supply windows xp cd-rom).
Symptoms:
- when reboot, it takes like about 30 or more seconds during the windows bootup screen (windows logo), then I know the scanner is lost again.
- the error message when I try to access my scanner through running SF Launcher or photoshop import, is 'There is no scanner found' or just simply no response at all.
- the reboot will go smoothly well without that 30 sec delay if I uninstall the scanner device in device manager and then restart.
Please help or any suggestion is appreciated. This is very troublesome and annoy for me to remove and re-install driver after every restart.
Thanks..
SliverFast 6.2.0r7 iSE loses my scanner in every restart!!

Dear yi_hsun
my first impression on reading this was: There seems to be a problem with the firewire driver update in XPSP1, because it works when you install the original drivers from your XP CD.
However, if you the system files protection in Windows XP is activated, is may well be that Windows discreetly reverts to the newer drivers (which supposedly don't work to well...)
I hope this gives you an idea of you to procede - however, if not and if the problem persists, please don't hesitate to contact LaserSoft Imaging support staff: https://www.silverfast.com/problemreport/en.html
I would appreciate if you could paste a fresh copy of the SF_Logfile in the problem report.
Thanks in advance for your co-operation.

Thanks for ur timely reply! I couldn't find the SF_Logfile anywhere in the LaserSoft directory and its sub-dirs. I even tried using windows search for 'SF_Logfile' but turned out nothing. Please advise on where I can locate this log file or to enable or generate this log file for problem report purpose.
Thanks again, your help is sincerely appreciated.

Dear yi_hsun
with a relatively recent SilverFast version you shall find the SF_Logfile.txt on your Windows XP machine in
However, if you haven't changed your standard folder options for the Windows Explorer yet, you will need to open "Options" -> "Folder options" from the Windows Explorer menu, change to the tab labeled "View" and let hidden and system files and folders be shown.
Then you shall find the application data folder in the directory as stated above.
