Silverfast, Windows NT and CMYK Plug and Play

I want use SilverFast AI on Windows NT with a Microtek X12 USL scanner and Photoshop 5. I got the Photoshop plugin working fine and tried to set up the CMYK Plug and Play but was unable to do so after loading the Silverfast separation tables into Photoshop.

I know Win NT does not support ICC color profiles. Is Operating System ICC support required to use this CMYK plug and play feature? If not, is there a limitation with this scanner? The documentation is silent on these issues

Dear Rodow,
yes ICC support is required...and there might be a limitation in your Photoshop 5. Do you use Photoshop 5 LE edition? this edition does not support CMYK.

We use the full version of Photoshop. I have since moved the scanner to a Windows 2000 box and found that the ICC suport in that OS enabled the CMYK plug and Play feature.

I am still confused with the Separations settings between Photoshop and Silverfast. I loaded one of the Silverfast separation tables (SWOP Sep GCR 370) into Photoshop, but could not find a matching setting in Silverfast. The closest was "U.S. Web Coated (SWOP)". The resulting scan is close to (but not quite identical) to the result achieved by a RGB to CMYK conversion in Photoshop. I could not find a matching setting in Photoshop anywhere that matched the Silverfast options.
